SKI AND SNOWBOARD SOCKS
Ski socks are made of different materials. Especially Lycra and Merino give specific properties to winter sports socks. Ski socks with Merino wool are warm and, contrary to what many people think, do not itch. Due to the use of Merino wool, these socks often stay "fresh" smelling for a very long time. Ski socks with Lycra are elastic and fit well around the foot.
Ski socks in the more expensive segment are often seamless and have a different left-right fit. These ski socks are therefore more comfortable to wear. Ski socks with a tight, not too thick left-right fit, fit well on the feet and do not easily go loose. This increases control on the ski and prevents painful pressure points from forming. Many ski socks are thicker at the traditional pressure points (shins, heels and toes) and thinner on the calves and on top of the foot.
Nowadays there are women's ski socks and men's ski socks, the latter often called unisex ski socks. Women's ski socks are socks specially made for the female foot and calf, usually available in smaller sizes than unisex socks. These socks are also often warmer thanks to extra insulation.
