History of Luhta

Luhta Sportswear Company is a Finnish family business founded in 1907 in Lahti, where it still has its headquarters. Vihtori Luhtanen was responsible for sales, and his wife designed the patterns and sewed the clothing. Between 1928 and the 1960s, the company experienced a recession and World War II, but managed to stay afloat. In the early 1970s, Luhta made its international breakthrough.

In the 1980s, sales of suits, shirts, and trousers were discontinued, and Luhta focused on sporty leisure products. These were sold in Finland as leisurewear and in Europe as ski clothing. This is what Luhta still does successfully today.
